Hey! I’m Anna Barker (as you might have guessed 😉 )I’m married to a very kind, loving, and funny (and sometimes eye-roll inducing) guy named Jake. We have a sweet 9 month old little boy who is so adorable you might not be able to stand it. We also have an ornery but very good-hearted and excitable pit bull-boxer rescue that we affectionately call our “dogter” and who we say “wouldn’t hurt a fly unless she was too excited to see them”. I work from home part of the time, away from home part of the time, and am a stay at home mom part of the time. It’s honestly such a great balance for me and I’m so thankful that I get to do what I do!
I’m particularly passionate about personal development and learning new and better ways of thinking, as well as inspiring and encouraging others to pursue a full, deep, free life. My absolute favorite verse is John 10:10. The words are great, but I believe the best part about them is who said them and what it means for us:
“I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”
I believe this is such a good summary of Jesus’ heart toward every single human being and the lives that He wants us to live. I hope to be a witness, in everything I do, that believing and embracing this truth of God’s heart toward people can, and does, free us to live full lives.
In my photography, I’m in it to tell stories through photos- whether the story is about a relationship, a personality, a place, a project, or a particular moment in time.
I’ve had a big appreciation of photography for years- I got my first camera (it was film) when I was 8 years old. It was this creepy clown themed camera but I was so, SO proud to own it. Fast forward to high school when I first borrowed my friend Jenny’s DSLR camera and loved the fact that I could finally take pictures that looked the way I wanted them to (that my 2009 Samsung flip phone 2 megapixel camera just didn’t allow me to get (ha!). Long story short, I finally bought my own DSLR camera and took a photography class in college (before I dropped out to build my photography business) and finally learned more of the technical side behind photography. I started taking photos of my friends and family for free to practice my skills and build my portfolio and then started an actual business after I shot my first wedding in 2015.
Not only does photography let me capture the big picture of what’s going on in the moment, but it allows me to capture the details that really do make up some of the most important things in life. I’m constantly inspired and blessed by the fact that I get to work with the awesome people that I do, and that I get to hear their stories and give them personalized photos that put the spotlight on the things that mean the most to them.
